Jesus Prom 2025

It's tiki time! Join us for a luau.

Jesus Prom is an unforgettable night where our CapCityFam gets to celebrate and love on those with physical and/or mental disabilities. It’s an evening full of games, prizes, dancing, and a crowd-favorite photo booth!

Doors open at 6pm We’ll greet our guests warmly and pair each one with an Escort for the evening. After check-in, guests can enjoy dinner and then explore all the activities, from games to the dance floor. We kindly ask that each guest has a Caregiver on-site. For our amazing Caregivers, we offer a Respite Room—a comfortable space to relax and recharge during the event.

Sign Up to Volunteer for Jesus Prom

Jesus Prom is one of CapCity’s biggest all-hands-on-deck events—and when we say all hands, we really mean it!

It takes our whole church family to pull off this incredible night, throwing a huge party for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and showing them just how much God loves them.

Volunteer Times: 5:15pm–8:30pm.

  • A delicious dinner will be served for volunteers from 5:15–5:45 p.m. in the Gym—please let us know at registration if you plan to eat. Please note, Escorts are invited to join their dates for dinner.
  • Childcare is available for volunteers during Jesus Prom. Please include the ages of your child(ren) when you register.

We’re looking for volunteers to serve as Escorts for the evening—walking alongside our guests as they move from games to the dance floor and helping make the night unforgettable. Escorts are welcome to team up and share a “date.” Volunteers under 16 must pair up with an adult.

Questions? Contact Alathea at [email protected] or Laura (aka the Big Kahuna) at [email protected].

Volunteer Training

If you’re volunteering for the first time, we’d love for you to catch the island vibes early by joining one of our in-person info sessions in the Connections Room:

  • Sunday, August 10 at 9:30am or 11am
  • Sunday, August 17 at 9:30am or 11am

Not sure what to wear?

Get ready to embrace the vibrant, laid-back island style!

For a luau, think colorful floral prints, breezy fabrics, and comfortable shoes.

Here are some ideas to help you dress the part:

For Men

  • Aloha shirt: A must-have! Choose bright colors with bold floral or tropical prints.
  • Shorts or pants: Khakis, linen pants, or comfortable shorts work well.
  • Footwear: Sandals, flip-flops, or casual sneakers are all appropriate.

For Women

  • Floral-print dress: A flowy maxi dress or sundress in bright, tropical colors is perfect.
  • Mu‘umu‘u: A traditional loose-fitting Hawaiian dress with bold floral prints.
  • Sarong: A versatile piece you can tie in different ways—often floral, of course!
  • Footwear: Sandals, flip-flops, or open-toed shoes.

Accessories

  • Leis: Fresh flower or faux leis add fun island flair.
  • Hats: Straw hats or wide-brimmed hats are both stylish and practical.
  • Shell necklaces: Classic and perfect for the luau vibe.

General Tips

  • Stay comfortable: Luaus are lively and often include dancing and lots of food, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
  • Go bold: Bright colors and tropical patterns are encouraged—don’t hold back!
  • Have fun: Most importantly, relax and enjoy the spirit of Aloha!

We can’t wait to see everyone in their island best!
